Liverpool have identified West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen as a long-term transfer target, with reports the Reds are ‘monitoring’ the ace ahead of a possible summer move.

It is claimed the Reds are unlikely to make any signings in the January transfer window, but the Merseyside outfit are already beginning to make plans for the summer.

Bowen, 25, has established himself as one of the top-flight’s best performing attackers this season, with his performances attracting Liverpool as they look to bolster their attacking options.

The attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all face uncertain futures at Anfield.

All three Reds stars’ contracts expire in the summer of 2023, although talks are underway over a new deal for Salah.

However, The Athletic report club bosses are aware their key players are all growing older together – Salah and Mane turn 30 this year, while Firmino will be 31 – and they are keen to regularly refresh their squad.

Liverpool chiefs want to sign a young player who could enjoy a similar impact as Diogo Jota managed following his £45million arrival from Wolves last summer, and it’s claimed Bowen has been identified as a top target to give their front-line a new injection of youth.

Klopp has admired Bowen’s talents for a while, with the 25-year-old boasting the attacking quality, versatility and work-rate that would make him an ideal signing for the German.

Klopp told the club’s official website in November: “I like Bowen a lot.

“He made his way up from Hull and took not too long to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League.

“He made big steps.”

Liverpool could be handed a boost in negotiations, with the fact the former Hull City star shares the same agent as key Reds duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.

Bowen started his footballing career with non-league outfit Hereford United at the age of 17 before joining Hull in the summer of 2014.

He spent five and a half seasons at the Tigers, where he managed 54 goals and 14 assists in 131 appearances.

Bowen signed for West Ham in January 2020 and has been an important player under David Moyes’ stewardship.

He is enjoy his best campaign at the club with nine goals and 10 assists in 31 appearances in all competitions this season.

The wide-man has also formed a formidable partnership with Michail Antonio– the duo boasting 36 direct goal contributions (combined goals and assists) between them for the Hammers this term.
