A Jack Harrison hat-trick secured Leeds a 3-2 win over West Ham United, lifting Marcelo Bielsa’s side nine points clear of the relegation zone.
It wasn’t a great start to the afternoon for the Whites, who had both Adam Forshaw and Junior Firpo come off after 20 minutes with hamstring problems, adding to their already lengthy injury list.
But Harrison, who netted his first Premier League goal of the season against Burnley two weeks ago, scored the game’s opener, curling around Fabianski inside the box.
Jarrod Bowen, another player who has been amongst the goals of late, scoring two against Norwich on Thursday, headed home to equalise for the Hammers from a corner.
Harrison’s second looked a lot simpler to finish, as he got on the end of a Luke Ayling header towards goal, tapping in at the back post.
Pablo Fornals levelled up again for the hosts, combining with Michail Antonio before finishing smartly past Ilian Meslier.
But it was Harrison who ensured all three points would be heading back to Yorkshire after chipping Lukas Fabianksi to net his first hat-trick for the club.
The in-form Bowen could have equalised with the last kick of the game for his side but, instead of heading in from close range, he chested the ball over the bar.
